Reach Out Africa supports dam spillage victims in Mepe

The Reach Out Africa Foundation has extended support to the victims of Akosombo Dam spillage at Mepe in the Volta region to alleviate the plight of displaced individuals.

Reach Out Africa visited the affected area and offered a free health screening and donated relief items , including food supplies, shoes and clean water.

The initiative aimed to reduce the difficulties faced by the affected individuals in this critical period.

Monique Ohenewaah Nkrumah, called on all institutions both public or private individuals to support their good work.

The Cordinator of Reach Out Africa, Georgina Gyebi also added that the health screening exercise held at Mepe that benefited over 500 people were conducted by some doctors and other health personnel who are members from the same Reach Out Africa.

“ Over 500 people benefited from our free health screening exercise, this was conducted by doctors and other health personnel who are members of the organization, we realised that most of the people who were affected by the spillage had blood pressure, we gave medications and referred the extreme conditions “ she explained.

Mepe in the Volta region is one of the areas that had their homes submerged due to the spillage of the VRA from Akosombo and Kpong dams on September 15, 2023 due to the consistent rise in the inflow pattern and water level of the Akosombo reservoir.
